Tournament Rules

  • -All Players must wear baseball-style uniforms. (No shorts, sweatpants, or t-shirts will be permitted as uniforms)

    -Wooden bats only (No metal cores or aluminum composite bats allowed)

    -Players must wear turf shoes on turf fields (no spikes, rubber cleats are okay)

  • -Games are 7 innings or 2 hours and 15 minutes.

    Extra Innings can be played if under the time limit.

    -An inning ends if the team on offense has scored 8 runs.

    -If the offensive team has a hit that results in more than 8 runs scoring, all runs from that play count.

    -Unlimited runs can be scored in the 7th inning.

    -There is a 12 run mercy rule after 5 innings.

    -The game is official after 5 innings.

    -No Shifts (2023 MLB rules)

    Games can end in a tie if time limit is reached.

  • -Runners may advance only when a passed ball or wild pitch reaches the backstop. 1st-2nd or 2nd-3rd

    -A runner does not advance from 3rd to home on a passed ball.

    -There ARE NO dropped 3rd strikes

    -Catchers can attempt to back pick runners

  • -Pitchers may pitch from the wind-up or stretch at anytime.

    -Pitchers may pick off from the stretch only.

    -A pitcher can hit up to 3 batters in 1 game and then must be relieved.

    -No hidden ball tricks.

    -Pitchers must be at least 35 years of age

  • -An outfielder can not throw out a runner at first base.

  • -All batters must wear an approved batting helmet.

    -All players on deck must wear an approved batting helmet.

    -All players must be in the batting order. (Unless player is injured)

    -Teams may alter line-ups game to game.

    -All players must play a minimum of 3 innings in the field. (Unless injured)

  • -No Stealing.

    -Players over 65 may request a runner.

    -No substitute runner from the batters box to first base.

    -Runners may take an initial lead to the cut of the grass.

    -Runners may take a secondary lead after the pitch is released (catchers can back pick)

    -A pinch runner will be given when there are 2 outs for the catcher and pitcher.

    -Runners may advance(run) once the ball has made contact with the bat.

    -Players requiring a pinch runner must be announced between umpires and managers before the game unless runner is needed due to injury.

    -Last batted out will always be the pinch runner.

    -Runners may advance on 2 out/3-2 pitches when the pitcher releases the ball.

    -A base runner is out if they advance (run) prior to pitch making contact with the bat, running before the pitch is thrown, or an initial lead larger than the cut of the grass.

    -No contact with any fielder. It is the runners responsibility to avoid contact.

    -No collisions at the plate, or aggressive sliding at any base causing contact with a defensive player.

    -If avoidable contact is made, the runner is automatically out and the force out on the trail runner if such a play would have existed. IE a double play ground ball on the infield.

    -The runner must slide into second base on a potential double play or turn out of the baseline. It will be the umpires discretion if a runner impeded a throw that would have resulted in a double play. If the umpire determines runner interference on the play, it is an automatic double play.

  • -There is zero tolerance for any abuse, verbal or physical to any umpire, staff member or player at any time.

    -Any player ejected from a game risks potential game suspension and/or expulsion from the tournament. 108 Stitches staff discretion and No Refunds will be given.

    -All players must be able to physically play baseball and compete. Players must have the ability to make routine plays and not be a hindrance on their assigned team. Should a player be deemed unfit to play he will be allowed to coach. There are no refunds in this instance.

  • Teams will play 5 games (Thurs, Fri, Sat) to determine the top 2 seeds in each division. Seeding will be determined by overall record. If teams have a tie record, a tie breaker will be determined by head to head record, then runs scored, then runs against. If there is a case where all categories are a tie, a coin toss will be done to determine seeding. The top 2 seeds in ach division will advance to the Championship Game and all other seeds will play in a consolation game.

  • In the event of inclement weather that prohibits us from playing, the tournament may need to be postponed or rescheduled. Your registration fee would be transferable to the future date or any future 108 Stitches tournament. This is also the policy if a player needs to cancel for personal reasons.

    A full refund will be issued if the event is cancelled with no possibility of a future tournament, or if player cancels at least 60 days prior to tournament date.
